Target Groups: Hydropower plant owners and operators, planners, energy producers, investors, hydro- engineering, project developers, state authorities, energy and water agencies, energy suppliers, technology and equipment providers, water management Institutes/ Utilities, nature protectors, and further interested parties
Background: Hydropower potential is widely recognizable as the most important low-carbon electricity source. Nevertheless, implementation struggles with restrictions and negative image. High construction cost and social and environmental impact additionally discourage new developers. Reach with natural resources, especially water Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is the is 1st in the Western Balkans and 8th in Europe with hydropower potential, more than 6,000 MW. Annual energy generation potential is 99.225 GWh.
The country has a long tradition of electricity generation from hydropower, over 40 per cent of total production comes from water resource. Not more than 36 per cent is currently utilised. Development programs identified new projects of 2000 MW electricity production capacity, including large and small hydropower plants, refurbishment and expansion projects.
and aim of the event:
The conference will gather international and local experts in order to discuss future challenges and available solutions. How the policy will be created in order to adopt environmental protection requirements and the low carbon emission energy production in the same time? What are the available technical solutions and international practice?
